Hi, I’m Emma — an artist, designer and creative director with more than 30 years’ experience working in art and design in London.

I studied Art & Design at the Royal College of Art and have spent my career creating, designing and developing ideas professionally. Emma Wade ART grew naturally from that background and from a wish to return to making things by hand — creating pieces that bring together colour, pattern, texture and carefully chosen materials.

Although much of my collection has a coastal influence, I don’t think of myself simply as a shell artist. I work across different materials and formats, from decorative objects and original artwork to gifts, ornaments and bespoke pieces. What connects everything is a love of detail, thoughtful design and the pleasure of making something a little different.

The Coastal Collection

Shells have become an important part of my work.

I work mainly with natural oyster and scallop shells sourced from the British coast, including Dorset, choosing each one for its shape, texture and individual character. Their natural variations are part of their charm, and no two finished pieces are ever quite the same.

I approach each shell almost like a small canvas.

Depending on the design, I use decorative artwork, pattern, natural pearlescent surfaces, liquid gold leaf, gilded details and high-gloss finishes, while still allowing the character of the shell itself to remain part of the finished piece.

The collection includes jewellery and ring dishes, oyster ring boxes, salt and pepper pinch pots, hanging decorations and one-off decorative pieces.

Designed and Made in Surrey

Every Emma Wade ART piece is designed and finished by me in my Surrey studio.

My collections change and develop over time, with new patterns, colour combinations, artwork and ideas appearing alongside limited editions and bespoke commissions.

Sustainability is also an important part of how I work. Wherever possible, I use natural, reclaimed or repurposed materials, including shells that may otherwise have been discarded, giving them a new purpose as pieces to keep, use or give.

Something a Little Different

After many years working in design, I still love the moment when an idea becomes something tangible.

That might begin with a shell, a pattern, a colour, a piece of artwork or simply an idea I want to explore.

Emma Wade ART brings those different strands together in a collection that continues to evolve, with each piece made to feel personal, considered and full of character.
