Inspired by sea caves, ocean grottos and the dramatic Dorset coastline, this extra-large hand-painted scallop shell dish is designed to capture the feeling of looking into deep coastal waters.

Each natural Dorset scallop shell is individually hand painted using layered acrylic inks, pigments and premium crystal-clear resins to create depth, movement and translucency. Rich ocean blues blend with foaming white waves and darker lagoon tones, creating the illusion of water swirling through a hidden sea cave.

The shell is then hand-finished with liquid gold leaf along the rim and reverse, enhancing the sculptural form of the shell and adding a luxurious coastal finish.

Due to the detailed layered painting and resin process, each piece takes many hours to create over multiple stages, making every shell entirely one of a kind.

🌊 OCEAN GROTTO COLLECTION

My Ocean Grotto collection is inspired by natural sea caves shaped by crashing waves and coastal erosion. The interior of each shell is carefully painted to resemble weathered rock formations, deep tidal pools and foaming seawater moving through hidden coves.

Layer upon layer of resin creates incredible depth and luminosity, allowing the shell to catch and reflect light beautifully from every angle.

No two shells can ever be replicated exactly due to the natural shell formations and hand-painted process.

Each shell dish will have subtle variations which are caused by the natural variations in the shape and size of the sea shells used, as well as a result of the hand crafting painting method.

The shells are wrapped in white tissue paper and are then presented in a natural, branded, sustainable gift box, nestled in white shredded & recycled paper to protect the shell on its journey.

Occasionally there are delays in the postal system that are unfortunately beyond my control, such as when there is bad weather, busy periods or other events that impact Royal Mail’s expected transit times and that of their overseas counterparts (Christmas, Covid..).
