Bring the drama and beauty of the ocean into your home with this one-of-a-kind hand painted Dorset scallop shell dish, inspired by crashing waves, deep tidal pools and rugged sea caves along the British coastline.

This extra-large natural scallop shell has been individually painted by hand using layered acrylic inks, artist pigments and crystal-clear resin to create extraordinary depth, movement and luminosity. Swirling navy, cobalt and turquoise tones blend with foaming white wave details to recreate the feeling of looking into a stormy ocean cove.

The shell is then hand finished with liquid gold leaf around the edges and reverse, creating a luxurious contrast against the deep ocean blues.

Due to the many layered stages involved in the painting and resin process, each shell takes many hours to complete and no two pieces will ever be identical.

🌊 OCEAN INSPIRED ARTWORK

Inspired by sea caves, crashing tides and underwater rock pools, this design was created to capture the constantly changing movement of the sea.

Multiple layers of resin and pigment create a striking sense of depth and texture, allowing the artwork to shift beautifully in changing light. The intricate white detailing mimics sea foam and swirling currents moving across deep blue water.

Every shell is entirely unique due to the natural form of the scallop shell and the hand-painted process.

Each shell dish will have subtle variations which are caused by the natural variations in the shape and size of the sea shells used, as well as a result of the hand crafting painting method.

The shells are wrapped in white tissue paper and are then presented in a natural, branded, sustainable gift box, nestled in white shredded & recycled paper to protect the shell on its journey.

Occasionally there are delays in the postal system that are unfortunately beyond my control, such as when there is bad weather, busy periods or other events that impact Royal Mail’s expected transit times and that of their overseas counterparts (Christmas, Covid..).
